Here’s are some wonderful shots of Odin, a white tiger swimming underwater to catch food thrown in by his trainer, Lee Munro. Odin lives at a zoo in Vallejo, California. He is 6 years old and 10 feet long from nose to tail.

There used to be over 100,000 tigers in the wild. There are now only 2,500 adults. None of the white tigers have been seen in the wild since 1958 which was the year the last one was reported shot and killed.

Magnificent isn’t he?

Most cat scratching posts and trees are covered with carpet or wrapped with sisal rope. But which is better?

Benefits Of Sisal And Carpet
Both are pretty durable and both condition your felines nails. Sisal is touted as being superior to carpet because carpet can snap nails. Also some people say that having the tree made of carpet encourages your cat(s) to scratch your other carpeted surfaces.

Give Them Both
I’ve found that having both sisal and carpet the way to go. Some of my cats prefer one over the other. And, I try to have the cat tree’s carpet a different color to keep it separate in the minds of the cats. My cats get trained early and I keep on them (just like with kids) to make sure they do their scratching on the posts or trees NOT my furniture or carpets.

We’ve had an 8 foot tree for 15 years. The carpet came off the leg after 12 years and we wrapped it with sisal rope, which is coming off — however, that is probably because we did it ourselves and didn’t really do a good job. But you can see carpet lasts a long, long time. We have a lot more wear and tear than most people because we’ve had any where from 5 to 13 (with fosters) cats at one time using this tree over the 15 years.

This cat tree is made of pressed wood and comes in Sky Blue, Faux Fleece with a base board size of 20″ X 14″. The overall size of this 3-level cat tree is 24″ long, 14″ wide, and 26″ Tall. It has 1 perch, 2 posts (1 wrapped in Sisal). Nice tree with both sisal and carpet. For more information and/or to purchase click Cat Tree 01.

I’ve just discovered a new cat litter box that is so pretty, you won’t mind having it sit out. You can tell the creator had a cat or two. She literally thought of everything!

It’s called LitterHouse and here’s a picture:

This house, I mean litter box is not only pretty, but it’s also very functional. It’s a great size and is enclosed to stop litter spillage. It also has a tray in the bottom with a pad to collect the urine while the top tray holds the litter itself. Then, they have hidden handles on the side so you can take the top off to scoop out the feces.

Great design! 4 paws up from me! LOL

Having a good cat scratching post is a necessity. In fact, in my humble opinion, you may need several, depending on the number of felines in your household. If you only have one cat, it’s still nice to have a cat tree and a separate scratching post in another location. Cats like variety and this will give them another place to scratch.

The scratching post should be several inches taller than your cat stretched out fully when he stands on his hind legs. This gives him the best stretch and really exercises his body. Keep in mind that a kitten will grow, so spend the money now instead of replacing the scratching post later.

This 32 inches tall scratching post is simple, made well of fibrous and durable sisal, which is perfect for conditioning nails. Sisal is considered to be superior to carpet which snaps nails and encourages scratching on carpeted surfaces in your home.

It has a sturdy base and great workmanship. For more information on it, click the picture or 32 Inch Scratching Post

Lee here. I love my scratching post. I used to scratch on the furniture, but Mom and Dad showed me the error of my ways. Now I can scratch to my hearts content and not get into trouble. Next to eating, scratching is one of my favorite past times. Lee out.
