Dog nurses lions and tiger cubs

Yep, at the Wild Animal Zoo in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui Province, a dog is playing wet nurse to a a tiger cub and three lion cubs. Below are two photos:

The tiger and lion moms refused to feed their cubs so the Chinese resorted to the next mom they could find, this wonderful black and white dog. Isn’t it adorable?!

What is a Liger?

A Liger is a cross between a male Lion and a female Tiger. They are not known in the wild. You can find some in some zoos and private sanctuaries. They are not meant to be paired so their offspring can have a multitude of health problems.

Big Cat Rescue

I’ll be writing more about big cats in the blog than I have in the past. These wild animals are just such amazing felines.

In Florida called, Big Cat Rescue, which is an educational sanctuary, and a not for profit organization focuses mainly on big cats but also has other animals. They also help to promote legislation to protect these animals.

Here’s Simba, one of the tigers at the sanctuary.

Their sanctuary houses the most diverse population of exotic cats in the world, with 14 of the 35 species of wild cat represented among more than 100 residents. These include tigers, lions, leopards, cougars, bobcats, lynx, ocelots, servals, caracals and others, many of whom are threatened, endangered, or now extinct in the wild.
